Our Lady's Shrine

The Story of Knock begins on 21st of August, 1879. On that day, fifteen witnesses saw Our Lady, St. Joseph, St. John the Evangelist and an altar on which stood the Lamb of God. In 1879 and again in 1939 church commissions rigorously investigated the evidence of the witnesses and in each case found them to be trustworthy and satisfactory. The Shrine of Our Lady of Knock now has the same status as Lourdes or Fatima or any of the major Marian Shrines in the world. Pope John Paul II came as a pilgrim to Knock Shrine. He called it the 'goal of his journey' to Ireland. During that pilgrimage, the Holy Father honoured the Shrine by elevating the massive new church to the title of Basilica.

Knock Folk Museum

The Folk Museum captures the lifestyle of rural Ireland at the time of the Apparition in 1879.
